Swamp Thing

Swamp Thing
I came ragin' up, out of the muck o' the deep south Georgia swampland
A lone egg-head out of luck, tryin' to give mother nature a helpin' hand
I rearranged my DNA, my skin turned green and I said "say hey! I'm a swamp thing!"
I'm your swamp thing baby!
I got an MS, a PHD in molecular biology from MIT
I got legs of celery, a trunk of squash, and a head of broccoli
Fightin' evil is what I do, when you eat your veggies be sure and chew
32 times
Just a little hygiene hint
From your swamp thing baby!
You can take the thing out of the swamp, but you'll never get the swamp out of the thing
Repeat ad naseum

Down around Georgia way

I never killed a man
But I sure messed a couple up
The harder I keep runnin'
The more I keep trippin up
And if that preacher man was righteous
And he really had the gospel down
I'm just a hopeless hellbound sinner
Waitin' on the wheel to turn around
But if that guru in Texarcana
Had anything goin' for him
I'm just a wayward soul out seeking
Redemption for my sins

What Did You Expect
03:28
|
|||
What Did You Expect?
I done lotsa stuff, ain't really proud of
Got into craziness, it was hard to get out of
I done wasted lots of my time
Waitin' on wishin' wells, and makin' up rhymes
Daddy said son, you don't know where you're goin'
If that's allright by you, well it's allright by me
Just head on up the trail apiece, on to the treeline
Open up a bottle there, see what we find
CH
What did you expect to find there?
Did you think that you'd find peace of mind there?
Did you hope that you'd see you a sign there?
Anyhow, did ya now?
I search for lotsa stuff, with no hope of finding
Justice and truth, maybe even love
Lost in uncertainty, not even minding
The stones that I stumble on, and the storms above
I head for the mountaintop, I hope to find there
Answers to riddles, from far far beyond
If I find nonsense I'll laugh while the leaves fall
Pick up my sanity, head on back to home
CH
What did you expect to find there?
Did you think that you'd find peace of mind there?
Did you hope that you'd see you a sign there?
Anyhow, did ya now?

Guess I don't know what it takes to get by

It takes two beers and a good size roach
That's about all it takes for me
I don't know about you
V2
Man this town ain't even got a decent transit system in it
But we got a good dose of that 4 star daydream
Sittin' high atop the financial hog of the southeastern Bible belt
Think we'll buy us a football team

Kitty cats damn near made the big one that first year
Maybe a few of your tax dollars can help 'em out

I don't know what all this fussin's all about
I'm just tryin' to get my frustrations out
And that takes exactly
Two beers

Stuck On Wintertime (winter '95) A Jaybird Era Tune

Tell me a story, make it a funny one
Bring on the springtime, I need to hear the birds a'singin'
I need to feel the sunshine of a love that I'm bringin' home

Everyday I wake up and my life is the same
Stuck on Wintertime, ice and snow
Stuck on Wintertime, cold winds blow
Stuck on Wintertime. ice and snow
Stuck on Winterti--i--i--i--ime

I ain't askin' much of life, I just wanna set me free
I just wanna wanna do more than sit around watchin' the TV
Hand me the paintbrush, I'll paint the whole damn thing yellow
I'll paint Sunday morning, and I'll make it a mellow one

Dreams
D
Litle boy living in a cardboardbox
A G
Grass and mud in his long greasy locks
D A
Little bag o' reefer and a bottle o' wine,
G D
He's gonna have a mighty fine time
Been on the street since he was just thirteen
With nothin' but a shirt and a pair of blue jeans
Makes his livin' doin' favors for thugs
And they pay him off in liquor and drugs
Ch-
B- D
But he's got dreams, rappin' at his windows
B- D7
Just what it means, he don't know
B- A
Sometimes it seems, like he's the punchline
G D A G
Of a bad joke, told too many times in a rundown bar by the railroad track
G
Don't look back
D
Sittin' by the river at the sunrise
A G
Watchin' the pollution as the garbage floats by
D A
Sees the city shinin' in the morning light
G D
Ain't nothin' gonna be allright
Got a wobble in his knee and a shaky hand
And he aint just barely a man
Said I'm too young to be livin' this way
Hope I find a better new day
